Herbstakademie Neues Frankfurt 2025 – Call for Applications

The Herbstakademie “City / Care / Commons – 100 Years of Neues Frankfurt” invites participants from diverse disciplines and fields.


Participation is open to everyone, regardless of their (professional) background. To foster fruitful and intensive collaboration, this call is primarily aimed at advanced Master’s students, doctoral candidates, and/or practitioners who bring prior experience with the themes of the Autumn Academy through their professional or personal engagement.

Applications are especially welcome from the fields of:

  • Architecture and Urban Planning
  • Art and Design
  • Social and Cultural Sciences
  • Urban Research and Activism
  • Administration and Urban Politics

The programme centres on intensive work in seminar groups led by the mentors listed above. Each seminar group will consist of 10 to a maximum of 15 participants.

In the afternoons, the groups will come together for excursions, exhibition visits, and workshops. Evening events will include public discussions and cultural programmes.

Participation in the Autumn Academy is free of charge. Travel and accommodation costs are to be covered by participants themselves. The organisers will endeavour to support participants in finding accommodation to help reduce expenses.

Please send your application, including a description of your academic or thematic focus (max. 2,000 characters) and a short CV (approx. 500 characters), by 15 September 2025. Kindly indicate both a first and second choice of mentor with whom you would like to attend a seminar during the Autumn Academy: city-care-commons@stadt-frankfurt.de
