‘Who gets to decide: Do we need to protect democracy from itself?’ is the title of the 8th h_da Dialogue Forum. Democracy thrives on the participation of many people. But surveys and election results show growing acceptance of authoritarian ideas. How do we deal with this when fundamental values such as freedom, human dignity and the protection of minorities come under pressure? Do we need to protect our democracy more strongly? And if so, how?

In keynote speeches and a panel discussion on 16 April, Prof. Dr Christiane Tietz, President of the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau, Prof. Dr Roman Poseck, Hessian Minister of the Interior, Security and Homeland Protection, and Prof. Dr Charlotte Dany, Professor of Development and Organisational Communication at h_da, will seek answers. The evening will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Thomas Döring, Professor of Politics and Institutions (h_da).

The event is the last of three h_da dialogue forums under the theme of ‘Shaping Democracy’. The occasion for this is the awarding of Frankfurt and Rhine-Main as World Design Capital 2026 under the motto ‘Design for Democracy’. All interested parties are cordially invited. Admission is free. Due to limited space, registration is requested.
