Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden
...
The panel discussion on the topic Living Rooms of Urban Society – Third Places: Walhalla is a collaboration between the municipal Walhalla project and the Körber Foundation, which has included Walhalla in its Third Places initiative.
Martin Rabanus, Member of the Bundestag, will open the evening. He is a member of the Federal Parliament’s Culture Committee, where he is actively involved in the Third Places initiative, amongst other things.
Presentations by Sarah Schneider of the Körber Foundation and Dr René Lehweß-Litzmann of the Institute of Sociology at the University of Göttingen will provide an insight into their work on the concept of the Third Place.
Panel I will then address the general question: What are Third Places?.
In addition to those mentioned above, the following will take part: Silke Remmel & Nina Wronka (Interior Design) and Nicole Miller, whose Master’s thesis focuses on Third Places.
Panel II will look ahead: What will the Third Place at the Walhalla be like?.
Project leader Vanessa Remy, in conversation with her partners, will outline her plans: with Dr Wolfgang Runschke, the Library of Things; with Maria Weyer from the Media Centre, a pop-up maker space; with Johannes Jäger from the JIZ, an afternoon meeting place for school pupils; and with Andrea Hausy, how to create an inclusive space for absolutely everyone – a Walhalla all inclusive.
The evening marks the closing event of the exhibition Urban Design & Transformation – Walhalla: A Cultural Venue, which is on display at the Mauritius Mediathek.
Thank you to the Mauritius Mediathek for hosting the event, and to the funding bodies Lebendige Zentren and World Design Capital 2026 Region Frankfurt RheinMain for their support.
Concept and presentation: Vanessa Remy, Walhalla project manager.
Admission is free.
