Curator-led tour

Tour with the curator offering insights into the creation of the exhibition A Step Ahead – 125 Years of the Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt.

Under the patronage of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hesse and by Rhine, the Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt was developed into a hub for outstanding artists, architects and designers at the beginning of the 20th century. Here, visionary artists sought to embrace modernism and, as part of four major exhibitions between 1901 and 1914, created a unique Gesamtkunstwerk comprising buildings, gardens and sculptures.
