As part of the exhibition, artworks created by Afghan women during a two-day workshop led by Maren Amini will be presented. Each piece is based on an Afghan or Persian poem and translates its thoughts, imagery, and emotions into a unique artistic form.
The resulting artworks reflect the women’s personal experiences, attitudes toward life, and individual perspectives, offering insight into their lived realities. The exhibition aims to raise awareness among the public in Frankfurt of the stories, experiences, and perspectives of Afghan women. At the same time, it seeks to create a space for encounter, exchange, and open dialogue. Art and poetry become visible as connecting elements: they make it possible to convey personal and social themes in an accessible, moving, and powerful way. Visitors are invited to view the exhibited works, engage in conversation, and explore the backgrounds of the pieces. In an open atmosphere, the exhibition highlights how art can build bridges, broaden perspectives, and enable meaningful encounters. The exhibition event will take place at Room 4012 at AmkA and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the art, exchange ideas, and spend the evening together until 9:30 p.m. Finger food and drinks will be provided.
The event is free of charge
ZAN e.V. is an Afghan women’s association based in Frankfurt that has been advocating for the rights, participation, and self-determination of Afghan women for 25 years. We support Afghan women in finding their way in Germany and building a self-determined life. Our work focuses on education, counselling, and labour market integration. In addition to providing practical support locally, we also advocate at the federal level for the political interests of Afghan women.
