Wir gestalten unseren Lebensraum Schule mit

2026

Gymnasium Eltville

The school building is partly dark and labyrinthine inside. Appealing places for relaxation or work outside the classrooms are missing. The staircases, in particular, feel narrow and gloomy. The aim of the project is to redesign the school environment to encourage exchange and collaborative learning.

An architect supports the initiative on a voluntary basis. For better orientation, the three staircases have been assigned the colors red, blue, and green, each connected with an aspect of the city of Eltville. These motifs will be transferred onto the walls together with the artist Thekra Jaziri. Additional components include signposts (Art advanced course 2026), personalized seat cushions (Miale project), a new color concept for lockers, before-and-after photo series by the school’s photography group, and ongoing idea development within the school’s CreativeCafé.

The initiative is led by Gabriele Hoberg, art teacher at Gymnasium Eltville. She is convinced that the design of one’s immediate environment has a direct impact on well-being and that young people can experience self-efficacy and responsibility in the community by actively shaping their surroundings.
