WIConnect
At several stations in Wiesbaden, people can vote on location-specific questions. To do so, they toss paper waste into one of three tubes, each representing an answer option. The option with the most votes is then implemented.
The project aims to promote social exchange at low-threshold meeting points and make democratic participation tangible in everyday life—especially for people who have withdrawn from society. Students from the Media Management program at Hochschule RheinMain developed the concept “WIconnect” for this purpose. Interactive stations are set up in shops, cinemas, cafés, youth centers, theaters, and other easily accessible locations in Wiesbaden.
They enable both small and larger decisions—from choosing between pretzels, waffles, or fruit to contributing to the design of the pedestrian zone. In this way, participation is strengthened, and democracy becomes tangible in a playful and everyday context. Together with partners from the city, associations, initiatives, and cultural venues, the students implement the stations and create spaces for co-creation, exchange, and collective action.
