The Colour Research Studio led by Barbara Glasner invites visitors to an exhibition exploring the social and design-related dimensions of colour. Colour is approached not only as an aesthetic or scientific phenomenon, but as an autonomous cultural and political force in shaping society.
With Power of Colour, Sandra Spoo presents an artistic position that examines colour as a force of identity and politics. Her work reflects on the political, social and emotional dimensions of colour as a medium of democratic expression. Spoo explores colour as a structuring and identity-forming element in design, and teaches as an artistic associate at the Kunsthochschule Kassel, focusing on colour in product design.
Complementing Spoo's colour interventions, works by students from her current seminar Colour and Identity, focusing on the theme Colour and Democracy, will be on display. These projects explore colour as a medium of democratic participation, visibility, and social negotiation through urban research.
