Singen als soziale Praxis

2026

Anouk Schmelz & Clara Maldener

The project Singing as Social Practice responds to the increasing isolation in urban spaces and the need for open, low-threshold opportunities for community and participation.

At its core is the unifying power of singing. The design task not only includes the choice of location or songs but considers every aspect of such an event in public space as a design challenge. This highlights how design can serve as a tool to foster social interaction. The aim is to activate public spaces in ways that encourage people to bring in their voices and create a shared, democratic, and connecting experience. Everyone can take part—regardless of age, background, or musical experience. At least five sessions are planned at different locations. The project is being developed as an independent initiative under the guidance of Peter Eckart and Tom Bieling at HfG Offenbach.
