SchattenGrün – Community für Fassadenbegrünung

In spring, OMC°C wants to work with people from Frankfurt to green many windows with climbing plants as part of WDC 2026. Anyone who would like to get involved in greening a section of the façade can contact us – OMC°C – from March onwards and join in.

Nets made of natural fibres are attached to the outside of the windows using a specially developed mounting system. Annual flowering climbing plants grow into these nets and form a ‘green curtain’ that keeps the apartment cool by blocking out the sun and heat. The 4–8 m² climbing nets and planters can be easily and securely attached to window openings using mountings. Over the course of the summer, the flowering plants grow into the nets. The green curtains provide shade in front of your own window. The system works with annual plants.

This means that the green curtains are removed in autumn and the plants, together with the climbing net, can be composted. The green curtains provide shade in front of your own window in summer, and in winter you can enjoy the sunshine. Equipped with fresh soil and a new climbing net, the window holders can be replanted every year in May.
