What makes Saxony an exciting location for design? And how can design thinking become a measurable driver of innovation for businesses? KREATIVES SACHSEN explores these questions during Open – Design Week Frankfurt RheinMain with an evening dedicated to showcasing Saxon design practice and fostering dialogue with Frankfurt’s creative scene.
In cooperation with the Saxon State Award for Design on behalf of the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection, KREATIVES SACHSEN invites designers, companies and creatives to CAMERA, a former cinema that is now home to the agency Script Communications.
During the discussion, two jury members of the State Award, selected award winners and guests will discuss the conditions design needs in order to create economic value, and whether regional differences play a role.
Four award winners will present the stories behind their projects and share insights into the opportunities available to designers in Saxony. Topics include: How are design decisions developed? In which cross-sector collaborations does design thinking become effective? What role does the Saxon State Award for Design play, and how is design supported in Saxony?
The accompanying exhibition of the Saxon State Award for Design 2025 presents outstanding examples of design quality and economic relevance from the region. The evening concludes with an open networking event creating space for exchange, new collaborations and informal dialogue between designers and industry.

Saxony State Design Award
The Saxony State Design Award is open to designers from Saxony as well as to companies and designers from across Germany. The award recognises pioneering designs from all fields and design concepts that contribute to the responsible shaping of our living environment. The competition is organised every two years by the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour, Energy and Climate Protection. The design prize is intended to support the Saxon design industry and aims to highlight the relevance of design in shaping the economy and society.
