OFFEN FÜR ALLE

2026

Katholische Stadtkirche Frankfurt

The St. Michael's Funeral Church in Frankfurt's Nordend district is being converted into the first funeral church in Hesse.

This funeral church will expand the existing services offered by the Centre for Bereavement Care, providing a place that will serve as a cemetery for a total of 2,500 urns and also offer space for the living under the same roof.

With the funeral church and the existing Centre for Bereavement Care, the Diocese of Limburg wants to create a dignified place for burial and mourning and reach out to people in times of changing mourning and funeral culture with a welcoming offer.

To mark this occasion, the Diocese of Limburg has launched an architecture competition. The results, including the winning design by the MEIXNER SCHLÜTER WENDT architectural firm, will be presented to the public and interested parties on site.
