#MyDesign4Democracy

#MyDesign4Democracy connects creative photography with civic engagement. Young people explore how democracy shapes their lives, using both traditional and AI-supported design methods.

The project fosters media literacy, social learning, and cooperation, with two age groups (9–12 and 13–21) ensuring fair participation.

In collaboration with the local school authority, schools, and youth centers, workshops and inclusive, barrier-free activities promote broad access. A web platform enables participants to upload their work, which will be presented online and across social media. The best entries will be showcased in a public exhibition in spring 2026 at the White Tower or Liebighaus Darmstadt, complemented by projections and AR installations in public spaces. The project makes democracy visible and tangible, giving young people a voice and connecting creative design with democratic values.

Who?
Children, teenagers, and young adults (ages 9–21) from Hesse. Individuals, project groups, and school classes may submit their work.

How?
Digital or analog camera, smartphone, or AI-generated works
(AI submissions must include a protocol.)

What?
Up to 3 individual images and/or
1 series of 3 images.

Format: JPEG, min. 4000 px (longest side), max. 10 MB per image

When?
Submission deadline: March 15, 2026

Opening: April 17, 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Justus-Liebig-Haus, Darmstadt
Exhibition runs until May 15, 2026

Prizes
Top 10 receive a certificate.

Top 3 in each age group (9–12 & 13–21 years) receive prizes totaling €900.
