Kunsthaus Wiesbaden
Marcelo Brodsky is widely regarded as one of the most important contemporary artists from Latin America. A photographer, visual artist, and international human rights activist, his work focuses particularly on visual language and memory. Human rights violations have long been a central theme in Brodsky’s artistic practice.
He gained international recognition with his series Buena Memoria (1997), which addresses the deportation and murder of several of his classmates and his brother, Fernando Brodsky, during Argentina’s military dictatorship. This was followed by further significant series, including 1968 – The Fire of Ideas, Africa Fighting for Freedom, Mandela, and The Struggle Against Apartheid. The Kunsthaus presents a selection of his works.
In addition, Marcelo Brodsky enters into a visual dialogue with Joseph Beuys and Marcel Broodthaers — an artistic approach that runs throughout his entire body of work.
The exhibition, curated by Professor Dr. Márcio Seligmann-Silva, opens on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 19:00, in the presence of the curator and Marcelo Brodsky.
A diverse accompanying programme of guided tours, lectures, and panel discussions will complement the exhibition. Admission to these events is free.
The exhibition is presented in cooperation with MISHPOCHA: The Art of Collaboration at the Jewish Museum Frankfurt and as part of World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026.
