The former E-Kinos in Frankfurt’s city centre are being revitalised and offer a broad range of artistic and cultural activities, from art and design to democracy and street art, as well as food, sport and film.
In the context of World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026 and the question of how design can contribute to a better future, managing director Florian Joeckel says:
“The future is not a fixed state, but a shared task. If we want to shape it, we need more than technology – we need design as an attitude. It connects where systems divide and creates social cohesion where individualism creates fractures. Design translates peace into forms of coexistence, into dialogue and into spaces that enable belonging. A society that designs remains competitive because it can renew itself without losing its identity. A social future means we design not only objects, but also relationships – and with them the conditions of how we live together.”
Massif Central Projektgesellschaft mbH develops and operates urban cultural and creative spaces in Frankfurt am Main. Under the direction of Florian Joeckel, the company realises projects such as MASSIF CENTRAL at Bethmannhof and MASSIF E in the former E-Kinos. With new usage concepts, the company contributes to the revitalisation and attractiveness of the city centre.
