Joy as Method

At home, we speak several languages. In our studio, Jain & Kriz, we do exactly the same with artistic influences from two continents. Based in Koblenz, we intuitively explore color, pattern, material, and line—a way for us to build our own cosmos and breathe a sense of joy into the real world.

Joy as Method is a celebration of the free creative process. It all begins with a zigzag. A line emerges—a resonance in the mind that is quickly transferred onto paper. These drawings are a spontaneous record of thoughts, observations, and feelings. Often, the result is completely senseless or absurd. Yet, these playful scribbles are the starting point for our artistic textiles.

These lines travel with us to India, landing in the hands of master artisans in Rajasthan, Delhi, and Kashmir. For over a decade, we have worked personally with these makers to ensure that the raw, intuitive energy of that first drawing is preserved in every thread. It is a slow, human process.

Jain & Kriz have exhibited at Schmuck (Munich), Maison & Objet (Paris), Ambiente (Frankfurt), and Designblok (Prague). Our products have been sold at Arket, Shop Populaire (Berlin), the Flagler Museum (Florida), and other curated concept stores

Jain & Kriz is a Koblenz based multidisciplinary creative studio working across communication design, photography, illustration, textiles and jewellery. The studio offers design and illustration for companies that want to develop unique products.
