- Jede Stimme zählt – Das "Prinzip Kammermusik" als demokratisches Erlebnis
Kronberg Academy
...
With its Jede Stimme zählt campaign, the Kronberg Academy at the Casals Forum presents chamber music as a model of democratic principles: without a conductor, the ensemble must decide together on the tempo, dynamics, and interpretation of a piece.
Every voice carries equal weight; there is no hierarchy, and leadership can shift from bar to bar. The musicians are challenged to listen to one another and, through dialogue, arrive at a shared expression. Just as in ‘real life’, the musical process is about navigating differences, enduring them, and transforming them into something positive.
This process is built on equality, respect, and compromise—virtues that are essential for democratic coexistence. Within the Casals Forum, designed as a transparent space for encounter, young talents from many nations come together to embrace this musical challenge and, in doing so, reach their audience. Through public chamber music rehearsals, we hope to make this achievement of democratic consensus tangible. At the heart of the campaign is a panel discussion where two voices for democracy and chamber music will explore this theme: Prof. Meron Mendel and Prof. Friedemann Eichhorn. The aim is to highlight common ground, underscored by musical examples. The campaign will also be supported via social media to provide inspiration within the digital realm as well.
