As part of the WDC, we are planning a “call for ideas and makers.” The aim is to test temporary uses in part of Hofgut Klarenthal during the WDC. For this purpose, the north wing of the complex—with two historic barns—as well as the green open spaces of the estate are intended for use. In this way, Hofgut Klarenthal will open to the public for the first time in decades!
Background: The historic Hofgut Klarenthal, located just outside the state capital Wiesbaden, has stood largely vacant for several years. Through civic engagement, it is to be reawakened and transformed into a lively, open place between the dense city and the slopes of the Taunus mountains.
Creating living spaces for the future at Hofgut Klarenthal—that is what we, as a cooperative, are planning!
Until then, parts of the beautiful buildings and open spaces can be used on a temporary basis. As a “monument of the future,” Hofgut Klarenthal can in the long term accommodate new forms of living, including inclusive housing, and offer opportunities for work, education, socioculture, and gastronomy within a spirit of solidarity. A designed public place will emerge—created by citizens for citizens: a “third place.”
The possible spectrum ranges from manufacturing, repair, and services related to topics such as health, sports, plants, sustainability, nature conservation, new building materials, gastronomy, bicycles, food, and much more. Education, art, and (neighborhood) culture are also welcome. (One initial concrete idea, for example, is a cookbook library inspired by a project in Seoul.)

The association sees itself as a support association and offers assistance for a future for the estate that is oriented towards the common good, as well as a platform for good ideas. KlarA stadt.land.gut e.V. is registered in the register of associations at the Wiesbaden District Court and pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes. The association is ideologically and politically independent.
