Halt und Haltung
AMD Akademie Mode & Design
Society today experiences “misalignments” – both individual and collective. Often, what deviates from the norm is itself labeled a misalignment.
Together with philosopher and theologian Dr. Anja Lempges and a student group from AMD, the project asks: What does stance mean? What grants us inner and outer stability to remain upright in turbulent times? Why do we start to bend or conform?
The research explores what supports individuals and societies. A historical example is provided by Bishop Ketteler, who in the late 19th century in the Rhine-Main area commissioned porcelain dolls for orphans – as both symbol and tangible support in insecure times.
This story serves as the project’s inspiration. Objects will be created that, like the Ketteler doll, offer support and address the question of stance in today’s world. The results will be exhibited on the anniversary of the Ketteler doll at Mainz Cathedral, the Diocesan Museum, and in Wiesbaden.
