- Geschichten erzählen in Stop-Motion
Jana Köhle & Karoline Schüßler
...
The project involves an innovative workshop format that combines creative processes with the concept of upcycling. The aim is to collect and reuse materials to create unique sets and characters. These are then used to produce animated films using stop-motion techniques.
“Storytelling with Stop-Motion” consists of two consecutive workshop days. Over the course of these two days, participants go through various stages, beginning with an introduction to the basics of upcycling to raise awareness of sustainability. They then collect materials, which can be supplemented in a swap or donation area. With guidance, participants use these materials to create sets, characters and stories. Using tablets, the creations are staged, photographed and brought to life through short stop-motion sequences. The workshop days conclude with a screening of the films produced.
The workshops for children and young people are offered during the first few weeks of the summer holidays at two different youth centres in Darmstadt.
Registration for the workshop blocks takes place via the respective youth centres. The project is initiated by the multidisciplinary collective Karoline Schüßler and Jana Köhle. The aim is to explore the environment in a sustainable and creative way through stop-motion films. At present, cooperation partners are being sought, including vocational or special-needs schools.
Jana Köhle is studying art. Karoline Schüßler works in media education and is studying for a Master’s degree in Art, Media and Cultural Education.
The Akazienweg Youth Centre is located in the Waldkolonie district in the north of Darmstadt.
