Form Follows Friendship

The exhibition Form Follows Friendship shows how design emerges when collaboration itself becomes the guiding principle. For the exhibition, six young designers from Germany and the Netherlands worked in three binational teams over several months on joint projects. Models were built, exchanged and further developed. Design emerged through iteration, dialogue and hands-on experimentation.

The resulting works address key questions in design – from circular materials and digital tools to collective ways of working. The exhibition at the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt presents both the outcomes and the processes behind them.

The three projects offer different perspectives on collaborative design: Form Follows Fold explores how folded materials create spatial structures, AI tells you everything examines participatory approaches to AI-generated texts, and A Matter of Light combines material research with circular design in a modular lighting system made from bio-based residual materials.
