- Forest Design Workshop – Learn from Nature, Design the Future
Studio BOXQ
...
What if design doesn’t start with ideas – but with observation? The Forest Design Workshop is an outdoor format that explores how creative thinking changes when we work in and with nature instead of separated from it.
Nature is not treated as a backdrop, but as an active co-designer in the process. The workshop combines principles from Nature-Integrated Design, Life-Centered Design and biomimicry, and unfolds in three steps:
- First, participants arrive in the environment. They engage directly with their surroundings through perception, movement and presence, shifting focus and clarity.
- Second, they observe. Natural patterns, structures and relationships become visible — not only as functional systems, but also through their aesthetic and cognitive impact.
- Third, they translate. Observations are turned into ideas, perspectives or approaches — from personal insights to design and system thinking.
The workshop focuses on experience rather than theory. It connects perception, reflection and application in a structured but open process.
It is suitable for students, creatives, professionals and anyone interested in new ways of thinking and future-oriented work. No prior knowledge is required.
Hours:
- 11:30 – 13:00
- 14:30 – 16:00
- 16:30 – 18:00
Meeting Point: WDC Hub, Museum Angewandte Kunst. From there, we head to the Metzlerpark.
The workshop will take place outdoors and is weather-dependent. Participants should wear appropriate clothing and be prepared to move around the park.
Register: Group size is limited to ensure an interactive and guided experience. Please register via Eventbrite.
Studio BOXQ is a mobile design studio founded by Mascha, a designer and creative educator. The studio develops educational formats and design concepts for futures that actually work — combining Creative Education and Conceptual Design. Its work focuses on shifting mindsets and building structures that enable long-term change. The Workshop is one of Studio Creative Education stations, using nature as a thinking space and co-designer to open new perspectives for design & future-oriented work.
