Floating Space – das WDC-Schiff auf dem Main

The Floating Space is a mobile exhibition vessel and part of the Open – Design Week Frankfurt RheinMain. From 5 to 15 June 2026, it will travel along the River Main, showcasing contemporary design from the Rhine-Main region as a driver of innovation and social development.

As a unifying symbol of the region, the vessel will dock in Hanau, Offenbach, Frankfurt and Wiesbaden, inviting visitors to take part in a diverse programme of exhibitions and dialogue-based formats.

The WDC vessel demonstrates how five cities work together, with each city contributing its own “future energy”. The riverbanks serve as distinctive docking points, expressing what each city represents: Frankfurt and Darmstadt for technology and science, Hanau for craftsmanship and material knowledge, Wiesbaden for administration and society, and Offenbach for design and applied arts.
