The project The Poetry of Searching explores the work and identity of Louise Nevelson, whose large-scale assemblages from discarded street materials became a distinctive artistic language in post-war New York. These found objects reflect both the economic upswing of the United States after World War II and the emerging culture of consumerism.

Today, excessive consumption is not only manifest in physical life but also embedded in digital environments. Building on Nevelson’s approach, students search for digital “trash” to reassemble, transform, and reinterpret. The results – spanning digital objects and outfits – are presented in a phygital fashion show as well as in a permanent installation.

The aim is to raise awareness of mindful and sustainable use of resources, regardless of whether they exist in the physical or digital realm.

What happens when fashion detaches from fabric and finds new bodies, spaces, and identities in the virtual realm?

For the finissage of the exhibition Louise Nevelson, the Museum Wiesbaden opens its doors to digital experiments at the intersection of art, technology, and fashion. In the Virtual Lab of the Academy of Fashion & Design (AMD), digital designs, avatars, and immersive scenarios are created – inspired by Nevelson’s principles of collecting, composing, and rearticulating. This project takes place within the framework of the World Design Capital.
