Friederike Mühleck's installation literally brings the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to the streets on large-format paper.

The texts are printed in expressive, artistic typography on long strips of paper that begin in the gallery and roll out through the gallery rooms onto the sidewalk in front of the BBK. Visitors and passers-by walk over the human rights, the wind tugs at them, some rolls bend, others tear. The fragile, poetic form becomes a powerful metaphor: human rights – enshrined, but constantly threatened, trampled underfoot or blown away by the wind.

The action stands for the visualization of universal rights that apply to all people, for their fragility, and at the same time for the importance and assertion of rights in public space.
