Design for Democracy understands design as a responsible practice that seeks to support, enhance, sustain, and intensify life. It is about creating meaningful, participatory solutions to the urgent challenges of our time—challenges defined as good problems that demand equally thoughtful design responses. Design is understood as a process of change through which people shape their environment, and as a tool that can foster peaceful, diverse, and democratic coexistence.

The exhibition presents current design projects from the Frankfurt RheinMain region and connects them with international initiatives and key figures. It offers new perspectives on the relationship between design and democracy and, as an interactive platform for exchange, invites everyone to engage through formats for information, discussion, and shared experience.

As part of the Open – Design Week Frankfurt RheinMain / World Design Experience 2026, taking place from June 5 to 14, 2026, a special program will highlight community spirit, participation, dialogue, and collaboration.
