Design Democracy Camp – Gestaltung als demokratische Kraft

The Design Democracy Camp brings people together to shape social issues collaboratively and to make democratic participation a tangible experience.

Over three days in June 2026, the campus of IU International University in Frankfurt will become an open experimental space: in free workshops, citizens, students, activists and initiatives will work together on current social issues. Design serves as a tool to make perspectives visible, shape negotiation processes and test new forms of participation.

The programme is structured around three thematic areas: Protest & Intervention, Drawing & Community, and City & Participation. Within these fields, concrete ideas, interventions and creative contributions emerge through collaborative processes.

Work takes place in open formats – as one-day sprints or three-day labs. Everyone can take part; no prior knowledge is required. The focus is on exchange, joint experimentation and the development of new approaches to democratic coexistence.
