Demokratie in Sand gemeißelt

The Greek god Prometheus, ‘the forethoughtful one’, symbolises ‘democracy carved in sand’. As the creator and builder of civilisation, he fashioned the first humans from clay and brought them fire. He represents civilisation and progress.

The Prometheus sculpture at Rockefeller Centre in New York is the most photographed work of art there. In the Rockefeller Centre construction project, Prometheus played a major role as the ‘foresighted one’ in bringing art and architecture closer together through new possibilities and ideas.

Information about the venue: The sand sculpture tour begins in Langen with a grand opening at Langener Waldsee in July, and then continues on to Neu-Isenburg, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Offenbach.
