Democracy in everyday life: For centuries, cafés have been places for intellectual debate, the exchange of ideas, and the creation of communities — from historical salons to modern democracy cafés that promote civic participation. Here, people come together informally to discuss local and global events and to shape possible solutions.

In May 2026, this tradition will come to life: on postcards featuring artistic designs of coffee sacks painted by artist Eva Zinke, visitors can write down what democracy means to them. The postcards will be available in cafés in the city center and in the Ostend district — where the artworks will also be on display. The collected reflections will directly contribute to the design of the final façade artwork after the campaign ends.
