The Wiesbaden Urban Development Corporation is planning a Sustainability Congress on a former industrial site at the Biebrich Rhine waterfront.

The historic power plant hall, built in 1908 and now a listed building, serves as the venue and provides an exciting contrast between industrial heritage and adaptive reuse tailored to the modern world of work.

The event invites visitors on an architectural journey and encourages reflection on transformations in the working world: What structural requirements arise from this shift? How can we handle our architectural heritage and limited resources sustainably?

For the program’s development, SEG intends to collaborate with various partners, including Dyckerhoff and RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. The congress is conceived as a series of lectures, exhibitions, keynote talks, and panel discussions on the topic of sustainable building, alongside the presentation of best practices.

A central focus is on the revitalization of industrial workspaces and their transformation into new working environments – extending beyond conventional “New Work” concepts.
