In a world increasingly defined by speed, change, and crises, the need for immediate action becomes ever more pressing. It is brief moments in which decisions are made and actions become inevitable—whether in politics, society, medicine, personal life and very specifically in photography.
Photography is the medium that makes these fleeting moments visible: often, photographers decide on a frame, set the focus, and press the shutter within a fraction of a second.
AKUT presents works created in direct response to the present, reflecting the intensity of the here and now. Themes such as social conflicts, ecological challenges, or personal boundary experiences are captured in documentary, abstract, or staged forms. Each image thus becomes a testimony to the moment, inviting viewers to see today’s challenges with fresh eyes.
The exhibition AKUT directs its gaze toward the dynamics of the Frankfurt RheinMain region and their significance for the pressing questions of our time. In doing so, it contributes further to the discourse on social coexistence, democracy, and design.
The opening reception will take place on 11 December 2025 at 6 p.m.
