The project Seeing Together – Analogue Photo Walks in Frankfurt invites people to see Frankfurt and the surrounding region in a new light through the lens of analogue photography. In an age of digital image overload, the focus is on conscious, decelerated perception. As an artistic practice and as an opportunity to experience design as part of democratic participation.

Four themed walks between March and September 2026 will address the key themes of the World Design Capital: mobility, education, public space and participation. Together with artists Sandrine Jalquin and Thomas Schoger, participants will explore urban spaces, atmospheres and perspectives. The focus is not on technical training, but on seeing, observing and exchanging ideas together.

Participation is open and flexible: interested parties can take part in one or more sessions. This creates ever-changing groups, encounters and perspectives: a lively process of collective perception.

The films created by the participants are developed together with the project leads. The selection of images for the zine is made collaboratively during a joint session with all participants.

From this ongoing process, a zine publication will emerge in October 2026, documenting the diversity of images and conversations produced and exploring the question of how we can collectively see and shape the city.

Sandrine Jalquin is an artist, art historian and art educator. Thomas Schoger is a photographer and artist. Together, they give analogue photography workshops and walks, reveal new perspectives and also work on projects, exhibitions and their slide archive.

In analogue photo walks, participants explore Frankfurt and the surrounding area. Together, they reflect on the city, its design and democracy, which is then made visible in a final zine publication.
