WDC at TOKONOMA

In metropolitan areas such as Frankfurt, it is often difficult to find and maintain spaces for subculture. TOKONOMA is a grassroots project that was established by a strong community. Especially in times when democracy is under threat, and with it our peaceful coexistence, there is a need to provide space for progressive values and people from marginalised groups.

The opening and closing parties are all about making artists visible to an international audience and bringing people together to celebrate. For the closing event, we want to build bridges to Korea, the future host country of the WDC. For the open-air event, we are offering an insight into the creative spirit of the Rhine-Main region with local craft and art businesses, emphasising the importance of individual creativity as part of a healthy democracy. The projects will be integrated into the planned annual programme of the TOKONOMA Club and the pending association and marketed in cooperation with the WDC and other partners. We also run a creative agency and will promote and accompany the events with our own content formats. In addition, we have access to a large social media community and a newsletter distribution list.
