Leipzig in the 1980s: five children, a gang, and a secret. Who is the mysterious Kohle, the boy living in a condemned building? And what happens to Tobias when his parents apply to leave the country?

Author and professional storyteller Juliane Breinl takes her audience into a children's mystery set in a world where Germany was still divided. She does more than just read from her book; drawing on her own experiences, she explains why a train journey from Leipzig to Frankfurt am Main in 1984—when she was thirteen—felt almost like a trip to the moon. She also brings along authentic GDR currency, period photographs, and even a piece of the Berlin Wall.

This reading is also an interactive experience: children actively engage with the story, work together to unravel its mysteries, and discover how stories are conceived and developed.
