Kein Match? Warum Frauen und Männer politisch auseinander driften

There were significant differences in the voting behaviour of young women and men in the 2025 federal election.

Whilst young women were particularly likely to vote for Die Linke (21 percent), young men predominantly opted for the AfD (25 percent). Although political differences between the sexes are nothing new, they are particularly pronounced amongst young people. Public debate often focuses on a possible ‘shift to the right’ amongst young men – yet the picture is more complex.

The discussion will cover the causes of this trend, societal role models, the lack of perspectives in the debate, and the potential consequences of a growing political divide for democracy. The event is being held in cooperation with the Research Network on Social Solidarity (FGZ).
