...

In 1986, the Ostend district was on the verge of falling into disrepair, whilst the Osthafen, which opened in 1912, remains a transhipment hub for bulk goods and containers.

It is one of the most important inland ports in Germany. The surrounding area impresses with its fascinating architecture and unique atmosphere. From the climate-adapted design of the square to the artists’ quarter, amongst the harbour cranes and a new hotel, you’ll discover a side of Frankfurt that is often overlooked. This walking tour, organised in collaboration with the PIER F Sustainability Centre, traces the urban transformation taking place around the ECB and the Hafenpark. Here, you can experience Frankfurt’s transformation first-hand!
