To round off the weekend, Sunday evening features a very special double feature of What Are People For together with Gary Hustwit's cinematic portrait of Dieter Rams – a must for all Braun enthusiasts and friends of local design history. After all, as Braun's long-time chief designer in Kronberg, Rams shaped a significant chapter of design history right on our doorstep.
What Are People For: Design Philosophy by Patrick Whitney follows design researcher Patrick Whitney on his quest to define the societal role of design. The film demonstrates how design can help address complex challenges and shape futures that are more livable, equitable, and sustainable.
Rams portrays the legendary designer Dieter Rams and his enduring design philosophy. The film provides insights into his life and work, revealing how his principles of clarity, functionality, and longevity have influenced generations of designers.
