»Christian Dell: Ein Lehrer im Kontext der Weimarer Moderne«

“Christian Dell: A Teacher in the Context of Weimar Modernism” is a lecture by Dr. Frank Werner, recipient of the 2025 ART Curators’ Prize for the exhibition “Forms of Adaptation” at the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts in Leipzig. The lecture is free of charge. On lecture days, the sam is open until 6:00 p.m.

The Weimar Republic was a period of profound social and design-related transformation. New ideas of functionality and industrial design fundamentally challenged traditional notions of craftsmanship. Christian Dell taught at the Bauhaus in Weimar and later in Frankfurt, two key centres of this design avant-garde. At the same time, he developed into one of the defining designers of Weimar modernism.
