Agora Hessen Design Competition

Complementing the exhibition, Hessen Design e.V. invites visitors to an open discussion format. Across four thematic sessions, award winners and experts will discuss key questions of design practice — precise, provocative, and practice-oriented.

Programme:

10:00 a.m. – Exhibition Opening

11:00 a.m. – Start of the Agora Format
Welcome by Christine Fehrenbach, Managing Director of Hessen Design e.V.

11:15 a.m. – Block A: Attitude  (Enes Pavlukovic)
“Responsibility and Crisis – Why Design Matters Now”
Design takes responsibility. In times of multiple crises, clear design positions are needed.

1:00 p.m. – Block B: Method (Laurin Emmerich + Michaela Hartl & Milan Stein + Hans Väth)
“Building Bridges – Design as an Interdisciplinary Practice”
Design acts as a connecting discipline. It translates between stakeholders, knowledge, and systems.

2:15 p.m. – Block C: Impact (Nina Jäcker)
“From Concept to Ecosystem – Design That Creates Impact”
Design unfolds its impact on a systemic level. It initiates processes and shapes sustainable change.

3:30 p.m. – Block D: Learning (Prof. Mike Richter & Georg-Christof Bertsch)
“Education in Transition – Relearning Design”
Design education is evolving. What is needed are connected, practice-oriented, and impact-driven learning approaches.

4:30 p.m. – Closing & Summary

The exhibition and discussion program highlight how the next generation of designers thinks, works, and takes responsibility. The exhibition stands for new perspectives, interdisciplinary approaches, and the question of what role design plays in shaping our future.
