WDC 2026

The WDC Pavilion becomes a temporary meeting place in public space: a place where people can engage in conversation, try out new things, and experience design as a societal force. As a temporary gathering point in the public realm, it invites people to connect with one another, explore, and experience design together.

Between mid-April and the end of September 2026, a modular pavilion will travel through six different cities and communities. These include Bad Homburg, Offenbach, Wiesbaden and Darmstadt.

The WDC Pavilion is being created in collaboration with ConstructLAB, a transnational network of architects and designers focusing on participatory architecture and social design. ConstructLAB is developing the pavilion as a flexible, modular structure that can be adapted to any location. The final design will be presented in early 2026.

What happens in the pavilion?

The pavilion follows a modular weekly structure with space for education, exchange and encounters. Each stop is accompanied by a residency from ConstructLAB, which creates a continuous creative buzz. In collaboration with WDC programme partners, location-specific offerings are developed.

During the week, the focus will be on quieter, education-oriented formats. These include, for example, workshops with schools and joint projects with associations, cultural and educational institutions.

At the weekend, the pavilion will become an open meeting place for encounters and participation. This will include, for example, community workshops, performances and music, as well as talks, installations and interactive formats.
