‘Democracy on the Internet – Between Disinformation and Technophobia’ is the title of the 6th h_da Dialogue Forum. Misinformation is spreading across the Internet; social media channels are being used to achieve power-political goals. At the same time, we are seeing a decline in the culture of debate and increasing social division. This free public discussion event will address the question of how we can counteract these dangerous developments. All interested citizens are invited to attend.
The keynote speeches will be given by Prof. Dr Julian Junk, who researches extremism and extremism resilience at the Hessian University of Applied Sciences for Public Management and Security (HöMS) in Wiesbaden, and Prof. Dr Lars Rademacher, Professor of Corporate and Sustainability Communication in the Media Department at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. The panel discussion will also feature Michèle Leaman, co-founder of the internet portal against conspiracy narratives ‘Der Fabulant’, and Rafael Bujotzek, online journalist and lecturer at the Media Department of h_da, who has developed a live fact-checking tool for political talk shows. Marion Kuchenny from Hessischer Rundfunk will moderate the evening.
